Job Summary:

The Salvation Army is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Custodian to maintain the appearance and cleanliness of the Lodi Hope Harbor Building. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the building is clean, safe, and well-maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Vacuum all carpeted areas and sweep and mop all hard surface flooring daily
  • Buff tiled floors and dust all surfaces, including office desks, counters, and windowsills
  • Collect and dispose of trash throughout the building
  • Clean and disinfect bathrooms, including toilets, floors, counters, sinks, and mirrors
  • Replenish bathroom supplies as needed
  • Clean glass doors inside and out
  • Manage inventory of janitorial supplies and place restock orders monthly
  • Clean and empty outside trash cans
  • Set up tables and chairs for programs as assigned by the Facility Manager
  • Communicate daily with the Facility Manager
  • Change lights as needed
  • Clean and maintain Hope Harbor vehicles
  • Pick up donations at various drop-off stations
  • Responsible for laundering and re-packing overnight bedding daily
  • Clean and disinfect the overnight dorm
  • Oversight of program clients
  • Ability to fill in/cover front desk shift when needed
  • Perform any other work necessary to maintain the appearance, cleanliness, and safety of the Lodi Corps Hope Harbor Shelter

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6 months prior experience in a maintenance, custodian, or janitorial position
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
  • Valid California Class C driver's license
  • Good communication skills and ability to comprehend English instructions
  • Ability to operate a switchboard and paging system

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent lifting of 30 pounds or more
  • Frequent climbing of ladders
  • Good mobility and ability to climb, crawl, bend, and have good dexterity
