  • We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our team as a Senior Geriatric Nurse Specialist. As a key member of our nursing staff, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and leadership to our nursing assistants.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Quality Patient Care: Ensure that patients receive quality care by following physician orders, state and federal regulations, and facility policies and procedures.
  2. Medication Administration: Administer medications as ordered by physicians and in accordance with facility policies.
  3. Nursing Leadership: Lead, guide, and supervise nursing assistants and orderlies to ensure smooth operation of the unit.
  4. Physician Support: Assist physicians with rounds and physical examinations as needed.
  5. Treatment Coordination: Perform scheduled treatments and document them appropriately while maintaining infection control measures.
  6. Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all regulations related to cleanliness, infection control, and standard/universal precautions.
  7. Research and Development: Participate in research related to quality nursing care, as assigned.
  8. Record Keeping: Assist with records, orders, and assessments of new admissions, as well as scheduling annual physicals with attending physicians.

Requirements:

  1. Nursing Education: Graduated from an accredited School of Nursing with a current, valid license from North Carolina Board of Nursing.
  2. Certifications: Current CPR certification and ability to maintain it yearly.
  3. Geriatric Experience: Genuine interest in geriatric nursing and ability to provide quality care to this population.
  4. Leadership Skills: Ability to supervise nursing assistants and lead the team effectively.
  5. Communication Skills: Dependable, flexible, and able to work well with nursing personnel, other departments, and patients, families, doctors, and others.

Estimated Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.
