Youth Climbing Team Coach

Job Summary

The Youth Team Coach is a key member of our coaching team, responsible for delivering practice content to our youth climbing teams and crafting a transformative experience for all levels of Youth Team. This role requires a passion for working with youth and developing youth climbing athletes, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of athletes and support transformative experiences while ensuring team activities promote our core values and a sense of belonging in team members.
  • Work with the Head Coach and Team Coach Supervisors to follow the season schedule and deliver daily instruction for this level of team, including competitions, events, and training plans.
  • Coach at practices and competitions as needed, based on athlete attendance.
  • Provide supervision for youth climbers who will be bouldering and belaying.
  • Assist the Team Coach Supervisor with administrative duties, including monitoring team rosters, tracking belay training, organizing practice notes, and communicating with parents.
  • Effectively communicate any issues or concerns with coaching staff and the management team in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with the Team Coach Supervisor to facilitate mentorship opportunities and personal development for their team level.

Requirements

  • Embody Movement's core values and the desired culture of our youth team.
  • Passion for working with youth and developing youth climbing athletes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively with athletes, coaches, parents, and gym leadership.
  • Knowledge and experience in climbing instruction commensurate with the team level being coached.

Additional Information

  • This is a part-time, non-exempt position with benefits, including gym membership, gear discounts, guest passes, and other perks available to Movement employees.
  • Starting pay is $13, with room for flexibility depending on experience.
