Position Overview:

Colliers Engineering & Design is in search of a skilled Project Engineer / Senior Project Engineer who will leverage their leadership and engineering expertise to execute design responsibilities and oversee support personnel. This role encompasses a variety of technical elements related to land development projects, including but not limited to: site feasibility assessments, conceptual planning, detailed grading, stormwater management design and evaluation, Erosion & Sedimentation Pollution Control (E&SPC) Best Management Practices (BMPs) assessment, Post-Construction Stormwater Management (PCSM) BMP design evaluation, and other regulatory documentation.

The selected candidate will utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D along with other engineering software to assess designs from team members, ensuring successful project completion within defined budgets and timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guaranteeing technical precision, adherence to standard engineering practices, and the inclusion of necessary documentation on various plans, reports, and design documents.
  • Conducting site investigations and due diligence, which includes reviewing ordinances, researching utility services, understanding external agency regulations, and performing field observations to establish comprehensive development guidelines.
  • Creating concept plans based on client development goals and the findings from due diligence.
  • Taking a leadership role in the review and design of stormwater management and conveyance systems, utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D and other stormwater design software in collaboration with team members.
  • Assisting in the technical review of design tasks, such as detailed grading and drainage designs associated with civil engineering construction projects, ensuring value engineering is achieved through earthwork analysis and site safety considerations.
  • Designing utility systems, including stormwater conveyance, sanitary sewer services, pump station design, and other utilities, while resolving any vertical and horizontal utility conflicts.
  • Preparing and/or reviewing stormwater management calculations, including detention basin design, inlet and pipe capacities, and profiles.
  • Identifying issues, evaluating alternatives, and proposing solutions to peers and management.
  • Assisting in the technical review of regulatory permits, including NPDES permits and other technical aspects of the permitting process.
  • Working independently as well as leading other engineers in a collaborative environment.
  • Ensuring compliance with the company’s standard AutoCAD procedures for layering and details.
  • Performing additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification required.
  • 4-8 years of civil engineering experience.
  • Experience in land development is essential.
  • Proven skills in AutoCAD Civil 3D with the capability to design from concept to construction plans.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with coworkers, clients, and regulatory agencies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and judgment skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with local city, county, and state land use processes and regulations.
  • Proficiency in technical skills related to stormwater management, hydraulics, hydrological analysis, grading, and other site development designs.
