Job Title: Mechanical Equipment Technician

Location: Barnstable, MA

The Barnstable County Dredge Department is seeking a skilled Mechanical Equipment Technician to join our team. This is a full-time position that offers a wide range of challenges and opportunities for growth.

In this role, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of various mechanical equipment used by the department. Your duties will include changing oil, replacing fittings, managing spare parts, and performing other tasks as needed.

Requirements:

  • A high school education and proven experience with diesel, gas, and outboard engines, hydraulic/pneumatic equipment, marine electrical systems, and welding.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation to and from the job site.
  • The ability to acquire a hydraulic license (Class 2A) within the first year of employment.
  • The ability to travel to each project site using department vehicles on Cape Cod.
  • The ability to work Saturdays as needed (with overtime during the dredge season – September through May).
  • The ability to tolerate conditions on the water, vibrations, heat, confined spaces, and high noise levels.

Compensation: The salary for this position is estimated to be around $60,000-$80,000 per year, depending on experience.
