Job Summary

Chart Industries is seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team in The Woodlands, TX. As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for leading project engineering support for proposals and projects, assisting with the development of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), hydraulic analysis, equipment and line specifications, preparing and evaluating bid packages, and interacting with engineering, operation and fabrication disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform high-level research and analysis of data, including customers' design proposals, equipment, valves, and process line specifications, drawings, customer and industry standards/codes, and equipment manuals to determine feasibility of design and application of equipment.

• Perform engineering calculations to size piping and valves and assist in the development of PFDs and P&IDs to ensure equipment and systems conform to Chart engineering design standards and customer specifications.

• Work closely with the Process Engineering group in the coordination and development of P&IDs for Thermal-Fluid systems, including Cryogenic subsystems, from concept to completion with minimal technical supervision.

• Provide technical support and operations assistance to the Project Manager.

• Review customer specifications, develop supplier inquiry specifications, and requisitions for bid and purchase, and participate in supplier bid analysis and selection recommendations.

• Maintain responsibility for technical coordination of projects.

• Assist in developing overall project schedules and budgets and ensure that engineering requirements are performed in accordance with schedule requirements.

• Ensure engineering work for projects and proposals is completed accurately, within budget, and on schedule.

Requirements

• Project engineering experience in a related industry is essential.

• Experience in the natural gas industry, including engineering, design, fabrication, and commissioning of mechanical equipment used in petro-chemical or natural gas industries, is desired.

• LNG or other plant commissioning experience is preferred.

• Excellent organizational, communication, and teamwork capabilities.

• Ability to speak publicly and address group audiences.

• Knowledge of common engineering practices and industrial codes, including ANSI B31.3 piping code, ASME Section VIII pressure vessel code, and other related codes and standards of ANSI, ASME, ASTM, API, IEC, NACE, NEC, and NFPA.

• Excellent skills with Microsoft Office suite of products.

• Knowledge of M-Files and Bluebeam is a plus.

• Knowledge of Intergraph Smart Plant Enterprise tools, particularly Smart Plant Foundation.

• Supervisory and mentoring skills.

• Ability to solve technical problems and communicate changes to the project team members.

• Ability to work with minimal technical supervision and strictly adhere to project schedule and budget.

• Ability and willingness to follow company procedures in all aspects of employment and performance of job functions.

• Ability to technically coordinate projects from concept and development through approval, engineering, procurement, fabrication, and completion.

• Desire and ability to do hands-on technical work.

• Ability to work with field, operation, and maintenance personnel at all levels.

• Willing and able to travel occasionally as required to meet company and project requirements.

Education

• BS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering is preferred.

• 3-10 years of related engineering and design experience, preferably with natural gas and liquids production or the oil and gas industry.
