University of Missouri School of Medicine - Division of Hospital Medicine is excited to invite applications for the role of Inpatient Care Specialist. We are looking for experienced nurse practitioners and/or physician assistants with a minimum of 2 years in inpatient or post-acute care environments to enhance our dedicated healthcare team.


Key Responsibilities:

As an Inpatient Care Specialist, you will:

  • Provide comprehensive medical support services on the Medicine inpatient floors, working collaboratively with physicians and hospital personnel to foster a team-oriented approach to patient care.
  • Conduct thorough health evaluations and exhibit a high degree of independence and expertise in diagnosing and managing health conditions.
  • Order and perform diagnostic tests; monitor patient status, laboratory results, and diagnostic outcomes; and establish treatment objectives.
  • Collaborate with supervising physicians on complex cases as outlined in collaborative agreements.
  • Serve as a resource for patients, families, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals in your areas of specialization.
  • Document detailed medical histories and physical examinations, effectively communicating relevant medical information to surgeons and physicians.
  • Identify patient care trends and engage in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of standards for structure, processes, and outcomes.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:

For Physician Assistants:

  • A Master's degree is mandatory.
  • Graduation from an accredited physician assistant program recognized by the American Medical Association (AMA).
  • Possession of a current Missouri license to practice as a licensed Physician Assistant is essential.

For Nurse Practitioners:

  • A Master's degree is required.
  • Graduation from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
  • Licensure as a registered professional nurse in Missouri and certification as a nurse practitioner from the Missouri State Board of Nursing is necessary.
