About the Position:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a highly skilled Research Bone Densitometry Technologist to join its team in Boca Raton, FL.

The Division of Research supports and promotes Florida Atlantic research, creative and scholarly activities by providing faculty tools and resources to be competitive, setting strategic directions in research, ensuring responsible research practices and communicating the importance of research within and beyond the university.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate quality control records to maintain state radiation safety certification.
  • Prepare participants for procedures by explaining process and coordinating schedule issues.
  • Screen participants according to clinic SOPs and perform scans safely.
  • Oversee maintenance of densitometer, computer equipment and participant records.
  • Prepare and submit invoices to Principal Investigators and/or University core.
  • Communicate with university and outside physicians regarding equipment capabilities and reports.
  • Make recommendations to investigators concerning the proper use of densitometry for their studies.
  • Coordinate with pharmaceutical companies on protocols and recordkeeping.
  • Conduct scans using knowledge of systematic deviations from established clinical protocols.
  • Maintain accurate and complete research records.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and cleanliness of the DXA machine and/or room.
  • Submit raw data to PIs for interpretation.
  • Assist with clinic activities such as responding to participants' questions and assisting research nurse and study coordinators.
  • Assist Director of the Clinical Research Unit with administrative tasks.
  • Undergo intensive research training to learn the research process.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization or an associate's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.
  • Current licensure to practice as a Radiologic Technologist in the State of Florida.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Registration in Bone Densitometry.

Salary and Benefits:

$28.00 - $40.00 per hour.

Part-time position, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., 5 - 8 hours per week.

Temporary position, not eligible for benefits and retirement, but may be eligible for health insurance coverage.
