The Maintenance Technician collaborates closely with the Lead Mechanic to ensure the repair and upkeep of various gasoline and diesel-powered equipment utilized in golf course and grounds maintenance.

This role also emphasizes the importance of maintaining a tidy service area and maintenance facility, while prioritizing safety protocols at all times.


Key Responsibilities:


Under the guidance of the Lead Mechanic, effectively communicates any requirements or issues related to the maintenance or repair of equipment to the Equipment Manager.

Regularly inspects, diagnoses, adjusts, and repairs mechanical defects or failures in a variety of golf course maintenance machinery.

Assists in setting up and modifying equipment as instructed by the Lead Mechanic.

Repairs and fine-tunes engines and cutting mechanisms on both heavy and light mowing machinery.

Ensures that maintenance equipment is routinely serviced and inspected, performing related tasks as necessary.


May assist in managing an efficient inventory of frequently used parts, supplies, tires, hoses, filters, batteries, belts, fuels, and lubricants essential for the operation and maintenance of the equipment.


Maintains accurate and comprehensive records of work orders, repairs, and preventive maintenance activities, including labor hours and materials utilized.


Qualifications:


Must hold and maintain a valid driver's license or CDL, meeting the insurability criteria set by the Employer's insurance provider, and must promptly report any changes in license status to the Employer.

Successful completion of a pre-employment background check is required as per current employment policies.


1-2 years of practical knowledge regarding the operation of gasoline, diesel, and electric-powered equipment, along with proper servicing methods for golf course machinery and the repair and adjustment of mowing equipment.

A high school diploma or equivalent General Education Degree (GED) is preferred.

Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with the ability to utilize common mechanical tools.

Capability to weld and operate a gas torch.

Proficiency in sharpening cutting mechanisms to manufacturer specifications.

Ability to troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and electrical systems on mowing equipment.

Possesses a high degree of common sense and basic mathematical skills.

Basic oral and written communication skills are essential, with the ability to follow instructions in English; bilingual candidates are valued.

Commitment to proper recycling and disposal of various oils, compounds, and fluids (such as antifreeze and oil filters).

Assists in conducting effective daily inspections of golf course maintenance equipment.

Must maintain a clean and professional appearance when interacting with members and guests.
Compensation:
$17 - $19 per hour, based on experience.
