Role Overview: We are seeking a qualified individual to spearhead, guide, and support the delivery of cost management services, encompassing both technical counsel and comprehensive pre and post-contract cost management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement cost management activities and processes aligned with workflow stages, such as RIBA Stage 0-7.
  • Conduct feasibility assessments and compile procurement documentation.
  • Manage value and risk assessments effectively.
  • Act as Employers Agent and oversee development monitoring tasks.
  • Engage in business case and strategy formulation.
  • Prepare fee proposals, forecasts, and invoices.
  • Provide strategic procurement guidance, including OGC and OJEU.
  • Oversee team management, including leave/absence, performance reviews, mentoring, and training.
  • Produce essential project documentation, including feasibility studies, preliminary estimates, and detailed cost plans.
  • Prepare and verify valuations, ensuring timely issuance of payment certificates.
  • Conduct carbon modeling and life cycle cost analysis.
  • Generate monthly cost reports for client presentations.
  • Ensure successful negotiation and agreement of final accounts.
  • Possess a robust understanding of contract administration, including JCT, IFC, and NEC.
  • Conduct gateway reviews and project audits, facilitating post-project evaluations and lessons learned workshops.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will be a senior member of the SAGE Global Quantity Surveying team, responsible for delivering projects from inception to completion, either independently or as a team leader. Key qualifications include:

  • Experience in managing tender documentation and measurement teams.
  • Expertise in project cost management, including feasibility studies, cost plans, cash flows, and reporting.
  • Ability to manage change processes and track decisions through a Change Control register.
  • Proficient in risk management, collaborating with stakeholders to identify and mitigate project risks.
  • Capability to define quality standards and implement quality plans.
  • Strong people management skills, leading teams of Quantity Surveyors and stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
  • Effective information management skills to control project data and communication.
  • Experience in site visits, client meetings, and maintaining accurate records of actions.
  • Proven ability to cultivate client relationships and identify growth opportunities for SAGE Global services.
  • Contribution to the strategic development of the business and Quantity Surveying service line.
  • Membership in the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) or Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
  • A minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in cost management.
  • Experience in various sectors, including industrial, education, residential, infrastructure, or aviation projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and cost management software such as CADMeasure and iTWO costX.
  • Understanding of sustainable construction principles.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Leadership qualities to inspire junior members of the cost management team.
  • Financial management expertise to oversee complex budgets.
  • Project appraisal skills to evaluate project strengths and weaknesses.
