Music Therapist Job Description

St. Croix Hospice is seeking a skilled Music Therapist to join our team. As a Music Therapist, you will provide music therapy services to patients under the direction of our clinical supervisor or clinical director.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct music therapy sessions to patients, tailored to their individual needs and goals.
  • Assess patients for medical indications and determine the effectiveness of therapy.
  • Treat patients to alleviate symptoms and provide comfort, including anxiety, agitation, restlessness, depression, pain, emotional distress, and social isolation.
  • Utilize music therapy interventions such as relaxation, imagery, lyric analysis, song writing, reminiscence, entrainment, life review, receptive listening, and life legacy projects.
  • Observe and report patient responses to treatment and changes in condition to the clinical team.
  • Provide education and awareness to the clinical team regarding therapy appropriateness and contraindications.
  • Maintain accurate records of patient sessions and progress.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited music therapy program with a Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy.
  • Completion and passing of the National Certification Exam (CBMT) credentials of MT-BC Music Therapy Board Certified preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
