Position Overview:

The Office of Transition Initiatives (OTI) at USAID is in search of dedicated professionals who are passionate about facilitating rapid transition efforts in countries undergoing significant political changes. Established in 1994, OTI plays a vital role in fostering peace and democracy in politically unstable regions. By leveraging emerging opportunities in the political sphere, OTI aims to enhance stability and democratic governance through innovative and responsive programming.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support local entities in advancing peace initiatives.
  • Assist in the reintegration of former combatants into civilian life.
  • Develop and implement community-driven projects that address urgent economic needs.
  • Promote national reconciliation through targeted initiatives.
  • Provide assistance to independent media and civil society organizations to encourage informed public discourse.

Professional Requirements:

OTI relies on a team of highly skilled professionals under U.S. Personal Services Contracts (USPSCs) to achieve its objectives. These experts are instrumental in implementing the office's strategic goals. USPSCs are eligible for various benefits, including partial reimbursement for health and life insurance, as well as comprehensive workers' compensation coverage.

Performance Period: One (1) year, with the possibility of four (4) additional one-year extensions.

Eligibility: Candidates must be United States Citizens.

Security Clearance: A Secret level clearance is required.
