Key Responsibilities- Conduct financial analyses and assessments to support decision-making regarding resource allocation
- Participate in the annual budget development process and make recommendations for upcoming budget cycles
- Work with the Chief Operating Officer to realign budgets and assist the research administration team with monitoring research accounts
- Provide guidance and training to researchers and staff on financial policies, procedures, and systems
- Process all financial transactions promptly and accurately, monitor spending, and maintain awareness of programmatic issues
- Reconcile assigned indexes on a monthly basis and verify the accuracy of data
- Track spending on research awards and pilot funds
- Maintain current knowledge of state, university, and school policies and apply them accurately to all fiscal transactions
- Produce accurate and timely reports for leadership
- Serve as the fixed asset custodian and maintain records for the department
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or business preferred
- 1-3 years of experience in a financial administrative role
- Demonstrated analytical skills and ability to analyze financial transactions for trends and variances
- Strong problem-solving and time management skills, including ability to adapt to frequent changes in work assignments and prioritize tasks
- Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively in a large complex organization
- Effective communication skills and ability to work with a wide range of individuals at varying administrative levels
- Proficiency in the use of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
