Department Overview

Good Samaritan Society Albert Lea is a well-established long-term skilled care and transitional care facility situated in a picturesque region known for its natural beauty.
  • Part Time 24 Hours per bi-weekly pay period
  • Evening Shift from 4:00pm to 7:30pm
  • Rotating Weekends and Holidays
Position Summary

The Food Service Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our dining services. Responsibilities include monitoring and documenting food temperatures, maintaining a clean and sanitized serving area, preparing and serving meals, restocking food supplies, cleaning equipment, and processing payments through a computerized register. Adherence to Hazardous Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines is essential. Exceptional customer service and effective communication with patrons and colleagues are key components of this role.

Maintaining quality control standards is vital. The position may involve operating various equipment such as grills, beverage machines, dishwashers, and cash registers. Experience in the food service industry is preferred.

Ability to work independently when required, along with a solid understanding of food safety and sanitation practices, is essential. Candidates should be prepared to be on their feet for extended periods and walk considerable distances.

Qualifications

Applicants must be at least 16 years old. Previous experience in customer service, retail cash handling, and knowledge of food service operations is preferred. Candidates should possess the ability to read, write, and follow both oral and written instructions, as well as perform basic math. On-the-job training will be provided.

Depending on the location of hire, obtaining Serv Safe certification within a specified timeframe may be required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification may also be necessary based on location requirements.
