Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Internal Auditor III-IV to join our team at the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB). As a key member of our internal audit team, you will be responsible for conducting complex internal audits, providing guidance and assistance with governmental auditing, and improving governance, risk management, and internal control processes.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, finance, and auditing, with experience in conducting risk assessments, evaluating internal controls, and preparing audit reports. You will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with management and staff at all levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct complex internal audits, including planning, scheduling, coordinating, and reviewing audits and reporting results.
  • Provide guidance and assistance with governmental auditing, including identifying and evaluating risks associated with the TWDB.
  • Improve governance, risk management, and internal control processes, including developing and implementing audit policies and procedures.
  • Prepare audit reports, including outlines, summaries, and final reports, and present findings to management and staff.
  • Assist with conducting the agency-wide annual risk assessment and reviewing processes and programs to identify potential fraud or ethical concerns.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • Three to four years of full-time progressive experience participating in governmental, financial, program area, organizational, performance, policy, information technology, and/or compliance audits.
  • Certification as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) is highly desirable.
