Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in maintaining the quality of production on the shift, working closely with the supervisor to ensure high-quality products are produced.
  • Contribute to meeting shift productivity goals, identifying areas for improvement and implementing process changes to optimize efficiency.
  • Responsible for adhering to production schedules and ensuring that all production activities are carried out in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Bring any production issues to management for escalation and resolution, ensuring that all concerns are addressed promptly.
  • Take accurate notes, address issues with management, and escalate concerns or requests brought up by employees.
  • Directly supervise the successful startup of first batches as necessary, ensuring that all equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
  • Receive and act on instructions given from superiors, communicating effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Interact and communicate with all shifts in a professional and productive manner, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Interact and communicate with other departments (Maintenance, Warehouse, etc.) in a professional and productive manner, ensuring seamless integration and coordination.
  • Establish and maintain a good working relationship between shifts, promoting a culture of teamwork and cooperation.
  • Working knowledge and ability to operate all blenders and equipment, including packaging, milling, and cleaning equipment, is preferred.
  • Will be required to become a technical matter expert for all manufacturing processes, safety, and quality, to train employees and make observations/corrections as needed.
  • Audit equipment cleaning and use log books, ensuring that all equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
  • Audit completed batch records and make necessary corrections, ensuring that all records are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Recommend changes to batch records to reduce errors, improve efficiency, and enhance overall quality.
  • Complete work orders as needed and record equipment problems that could not be corrected.
  • Complete worker-related accident forms, ensuring that all incidents are properly documented and addressed.
  • Assist in workplace accident investigations as necessary, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Record ideas for productivity improvements and other matters of importance, sharing them with management as appropriate.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the department's paperwork, including but not limited to:
    • Ensuring that the correct batch record is being used.
    • How to record information on the batch records.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of High School Degree.
  • Minimum of four years as a successful machine operator in a similar manufacturing environment.
  • Fork lift certification required.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
  • Organizational skills and ability to multitask (work on and manage several projects at once).
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Proficient personal computer skills, including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
  • Well-established work habits that can be used to set an example for the workforce.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent record-keeping skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail skills.
Typical Physical Activity
  • Ability to work while wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including respirator.
  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 55 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, works with the fingers, and perceives attributes of objects and materials.
  • Involves strenuous physical activity primarily labor-intensive in nature.
Typical Environmental Conditions
  • May be exposed to moderate noise levels (i.e., office equipment, light traffic).
  • May be exposed to moderate to high noise levels (i.e., production equipment, forklifts, heavy traffic).
  • May be exposed to humidity, intense heat and cold, outdoor weather conditions, and fumes and toxic chemicals.
Travel Requirements
  • Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%) by land and/or air.
