Extended School Program Lead Facilitator

Job Summary:

The Extended School Program Lead Facilitator is responsible for facilitating, managing, and providing activities that expand upon the content of the regular school day for elementary and middle school students. This position may direct the activities of other Extended School Program personnel and is assigned to a work schedule consistent with the operation of the Extended School Program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide educational activities for assigned students in the Extended School Program
  • Ensure activities are carried out in accordance with applicable laws, procedures, and regulations
  • Maintain discipline and safety procedures in an appropriate manner
  • Record observational evidence of assigned students using the Desired Results Developmental Profiles
  • Conduct parent conferences twice per year using the data from the Desired Results Developmental Profiles
  • Interact with students to promote peer collaboration and expand student thinking and build life and career skills
  • Assist in summarizing the Desired Results Developmental Profile data on students and create and implement annual action plans
  • Plan, organize, and facilitate activities designed to promote cognitive, physical, social-emotional development, and the well-being of students
  • Facilitate and direct the educational activities for assigned students and ensure students are signed in and out of the program each day
  • Supervise and engage with students in playground activities, ensuring compliance with playground safety standards
  • Maintain assigned work areas in a neat and orderly condition and attend to the personal needs of assigned students
  • Ensure the health and safety of assigned students by following health and safety rules and regulations
  • Assume the responsibilities of the site supervisor in their absence
  • Establish student records for all assigned students and record observations relative to their participation, behavior, and related matters
  • Provide information to parents and/or legal guardians regarding their child's activities, including techniques used in working with individuals and small groups of students
  • Participate in parent conferences and/or general parent orientations
  • Attend staff meetings, conferences, and in-service training programs as directed
  • Perform clerical duties as assigned
  • Provide CPR, first-aid, and care for ill or injured students as necessary
  • Assist in setting up, organizing, and maintaining equipment and supplies

Qualifications and Education:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Any combination equivalent to 24 units (12 units in child development) and 1 year of experience working with school-age children or an AA degree in child development and 50+ days of work experience with the past year (3hr shift minimum) is also acceptable. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) are necessary.
