Job Overview

GMF Steel Group is seeking a highly skilled Certified Welding Inspector to join our team. As a key member of our operations, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our standards of excellence are achieved in safety, quality, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough inspections of GMF projects to ensure compliance with plans and specifications regarding workmanship, materials, installation, and construction methods, in accordance with industry standards.
  • Perform structural and miscellaneous steel welding and erection inspections, providing recommendations for necessary changes to the project team.
  • Monitor GMF's quality system and administer the three-phase inspection process, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Provide surveillance at project sites and assist the project team in problem resolution, ensuring timely completion of projects.
  • Review and maintain qualification and performance records to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Collaborate with the project team to maintain quality AISC standards, ensuring seamless integration of all facets of steel construction.
  • Certify that all welders have met qualification and performance requirements, ensuring a high level of quality in our work.
  • Review change orders, modifications, RFIs, and submittals, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Monitor project schedules, ensuring timely completion of projects.
  • Review and ensure QA and safety plans are adhered to by site personnel, ensuring a safe working environment.
Requirements
  • CWI Certification is a must.
  • Ability to perform visual inspection of welds under the supervision of CWI.
  • Ability to verify dimensional requirements.
  • Proficient in Tekla EPM Go.
  • Ability to read structural steel drawings.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to work independently.
  • Willingness to travel overnight and work overtime when needed.
  • Familiar with AWS D1.1, D1.3, AISC Chapter N, and RCSC.
  • Capable of lifting at least 40 lbs.
  • Bilingual a plus.
  • Structural steel welding experience preferred.
  • Familiar with structural steel tolerances.
  • Perform weld inspections on structural steel.
