Job Summary

The Sales Manager is a leadership position responsible for delivering agreed-upon sales targets in terms of overall Term Net Margin and Energy Volumes. This role involves growing market share in electricity, natural gas, demand response, load management programs, and sustainability offerings in a specific geographic area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and initiate sales strategies to promote the growth of direct sales.
  • Continually review tactics and metrics to ensure they are on track to meet goals and take appropriate actions based on results and changes in customer needs, competitor actions, or technology changes.
  • Proactively work closely with key personnel in partnering departments, including Pricing, Tech Sales, Fulfillment, Customer Experience, Credit, Finance, Legal, Wholesale, Marketing, Regulatory, and Gov't Affairs.
  • Analyze information for sales insights and develop structured approaches for monitoring progress.
  • Provide weekly or bi-weekly one-on-one review sessions with direct reports to ensure alignment to goal, discuss, and address challenges.
  • Assist team members in closing profitable sales transactions that lead toward goal attainment.
  • Coach and develop sales team members, including hiring, training, motivating, and assessing employee performance.
  • Manage sales and expense budgets to achieve company profit goals.
  • Provide timely and consistent communication and reporting to senior leadership.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business, marketing, management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in multiple aspects of deregulated energy sales.
  • Ability to motivate, coach, and hold team members accountable in a fast-paced sales environment.
  • Experience leading a sales team and creating a 'can-do' culture.
  • Proven ability to expand existing customer relationships.
  • Outstanding problem-solving, strategic-thinking, presentation, verbal, and writing skills.
