About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tailor Shop Manager to join our team at Alts (fka Alteration Specialists). As a key member of our studio, you will be responsible for creating a welcoming and professional environment that delivers exceptional results for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Relationship Management and Fittings
    • Maintain a high level of professionalism and provide exceptional customer service to clients
    • Conduct fittings according to our studio's standards and guidelines
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, influencers, brands, and stylists
    • Address client issues in a professional and timely manner, offering creative solutions
    • Ensure that all fitters in your shop are following our studio's guidelines and protocols during the fitting process
  • Machine Production and Sewing
    • Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in machine production and sewing
    • Teach and develop your tailoring team to deliver high-quality garments and alterations
    • Cultivate expertise in mens, womens, and bridal alterations, as well as alterations of difficult fabrics
  • Analytics and Reporting
    • Track production and communicate with the front desk and operations team to ensure accurate documentation
    • Provide management with your team's schedule and production reports on a weekly basis
    • Communicate with leadership and other locations to ensure that all studios are operating as part of a whole
  • Team Management
    • Encourage a positive and respectful work environment among your team members
    • Address unprofessional behavior and tardiness among team members
    • Work with HR to distribute formal write-ups and explain the reason for the write-up clearly
    • Distribute work strategically among your tailoring staff based on internal forecasting tools and their individual abilities
    • Coach team members who are unsure or uncomfortable with marking specific alterations or following dialogue during fittings
    • Seek opportunities to strengthen the skills of tailors and fitters in your shop
    • Complete full QC on all orders, yours and your team's, before clients pick up
    • Identify tailors in your shop who are making QC errors and work with the Head of Talent Development to develop a training plan
  • Onboarding and Human Resources
    • Welcome new tailors to your shop and introduce them to the team
    • Help tailors scan work as necessary and ensure that all work is scanned out by the end of each day
    • Help facilitate the production report process and communicate production reports to the Finance team
    • Participate in and administer performance reviews alongside HR for your team
    Requirements
    • 10+ years of alteration tailoring experience required
    • 4-5 years of general fitting experience required
    • 1-2 years of fitting both mens and womens garments required
    • Proficiency in English required
    • Strong written communication skills required
    • 1-3 years of management experience desired
    • Working knowledge of Excel desired
