About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Excavation Estimator to join our team at American Backhoe Service and Excavating Co. As an Excavation Estimator, you will play a crucial role in preparing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for various excavation and site utility projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Estimation: Assist the Lead Estimator in preparing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for excavation projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Project Management: Manage the excavation project process from start to finish, including analyzing project requirements, soliciting bids from vendors and subcontractors, and preparing detailed bid proposals.
  • Cost Analysis: Conduct thorough cost analysis and value engineering assessments to identify cost-saving opportunities and enhance project profitability.
  • Risk Assessment: Evaluate project risks and uncertainties, providing insights and recommendations to mitigate risks and ensure project success.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with other project managers and stakeholders to develop cost-effective solutions and strategies for project execution.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of project estimates, bids, vendor pricing, and ensure compliance with company standards and industry regulations.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field, or equivalent years of experience.
  • Experience: At least two years of experience as an estimator in the construction industry, focusing on excavation and site utility projects.
  • Skills: Expertise in construction estimation techniques, including quantity take-offs, cost analysis, and bid preparation. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret project specifications and drawings accurately.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in construction estimating software (HCSS preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of local construction codes, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Other: Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to project sites as needed.
