Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineering Project Engineer to join our team at ManTech. The ideal candidate will have experience in launch vehicle design and operations, with a strong background in Systems Engineering.

The successful candidate will provide systems and technical project engineering support to the USSF/SSC for Recurring and Non-Recurring Design Validation of the SpaceX Falcon family launch vehicles. This will involve participating in Falcon Systems Engineering Processes, Working Groups, Technical Interchange Meetings, and various Engineering Review Boards as needed.

The Project Engineer will also be responsible for reviewing completed team products for completeness and acceptance, collecting and tracking to closure all actions resulting from reviews, and interfacing with a multi-disciplined team consisting of multiple Contractors, Vendors, FFRDC, and Space Force team members.

Additionally, the candidate will prepare Customer team for, and support rehearsals and launch operations and anomaly resolution, including development of certification and training material. They will also contribute to the evolution of Day of Launch tools and CONOPs, produce integrated technical assessments on current and future launch vehicle and launch pad design, test, manufacturing, and operations, and perform technical and engineering data management.

The ideal candidate will have a BS Degree in Systems/Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering, 8 years' experience as Systems Engineer, technical project engineer or related areas in relevant fields, and proficiency in using Confluence, Jira, and Microsoft products. They will also have a strong background and experience in Aerospace and Launch Vehicles in System Engineering, demonstrated ability to perform design reviews, pre- and post-test reviews, failure analysis reviews, and preparing and giving written and verbal presentations and reports to senior engineers and management.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide systems and technical project engineering support to the USSF/SSC for Recurring and Non-Recurring Design Validation of the SpaceX Falcon family launch vehicles.

Requirements:

  • BS Degree in Systems/Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering preferred, BS Degree in another STEM field may also be considered.
  • 8 years' experience as Systems Engineer, technical project engineer or related areas in relevant fields.
  • Proficient in using Confluence, Jira, and Microsoft products.
  • Strong background and experience in Aerospace and Launch Vehicles in System Engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform design reviews, pre- and post-test reviews, failure analysis reviews.
  • Preparing and giving written and verbal presentations and reports to senior engineers and management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working at Space & Missile Systems Center (SMC), now Space Systems Command (SSC), or other USG agencies.
  • Software Engineering Development experience.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and oral and written communication skills.
  • Prior military or launch vehicle systems experience.
  • Demonstrated competency with MS Office products, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and collaborative software products such as MS SharePoint-type databases and Information Systems databases.
  • Demonstrated independence, initiative and dedicated proactive problem solving.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the ability to work cohesively with team members and other teams as needed.
  • Sound judgment, effective decision-making, successful collaboration with multiple agencies and personnel.
  • Actively adopts new learning techniques and is proactive in using new tool technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across multi-disciplined teams during design, test, and evolution.

Security Requirements:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.
  • Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
  • Frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
