This position is part of Blue Origin Operations, which encompasses Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security. Our team provides manufacturing and supply chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As a member of our diverse team of innovators and problem-solvers, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of space exploration. Your contributions will directly influence the history of spaceflight, requiring meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to safety in all aspects of space travel.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, test, and validate manual, mechanized, and orbital GTA and VPPA welding schedules.
- Create and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Qualification Records (WQR) in line with AWS D17.1 or other relevant welding standards.
- Analyze Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) results from processed hardware and address any nonconformities.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of manufacturing and tooling engineers, as well as skilled trades, to establish tooling and welding procedures for flight hardware.
- Operate welding equipment as necessary.
- Specify, execute, and interpret mechanical and metallurgical weld tests.
- Provide daily support for GTA and VPPA work areas, including managing shop travelers, production schedules, welder qualifications, and material traceability documentation.
- Oversee projects and maintain relationships with external testing laboratories, material suppliers, equipment vendors, and other business partners.
- Ensure adherence to general shop practices, including Foreign Object and Debris (FOD) prevention, material handling, safety protocols, calibration requirements, ESD, and contamination control of precision clean systems.
- Travel as required to support design interface meetings, equipment assistance, or off-site development activities.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workspace to uphold a 5S work environment.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, welding engineering, or a related field.
- Fundamental knowledge of metallurgy and/or arc physics.
- Ability to adapt to rapidly changing requirements with a calm demeanor in high-pressure situations.
- Proven ability to build trust and maintain positive, professional relationships, contributing to an inclusive workplace culture.
- U.S. citizenship or lawful residency is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in materials or welding engineering.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with GTA, PA, or VPPA welding, including proficiency in process development and improvements.
- Familiarity with aerospace fusion welding processes involving stainless steel, nickel, titanium, and aluminum materials.
- Competence in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Strong written and interpersonal skills, along with excellent organizational abilities.
- Experience with interpreting weld NDT results and hands-on machining and welding experience.
- Proficiency in operating, programming, calibrating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanized and orbital welding systems.
