Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and caring individual to join our Childwatch team as a Childcare Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for creating a safe and engaging environment for children, while building positive relationships with parents and caregivers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Organize and execute activities for participating children, promoting their physical, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with parents, children, and staff, modeling effective communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Adhere to program standards, ensuring a safe and clean environment for all children.
  • Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies.
  • Maintain accurate program records, including attendance and other relevant information.
  • Support fundraising efforts, attend family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and training sessions.
Requirements
  • At least 16 years of age
  • Ability to work with children aged 6 weeks to 8 years
  • Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people, with bilingual capability a plus
  • Completion of program-specific training before first shift and YMCA cause and culture training, Child Abuse Prevention Training, BLS CPR/AED/First Aid within 30 days of hire
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people and successful clearance of background check
Work Environment and Physical Demands

This position requires indoor and outdoor work, with intermittent sitting, standing, walking, running, and playing with children. On-site attendance is required. Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility are necessary to perform essential functions. Evening and weekend work may be required.
