About the Role:
The Associate Dean of Graduate Programs is a key leadership position at D'Youville University, responsible for overseeing the Graduate programs in the Patricia H. Garman School of Nursing. This role requires a strong academic leader who can provide strategic direction, manage faculty workload, and ensure the quality of instruction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Graduate programs in the Patricia H. Garman School of Nursing, including the Nursing Education with a Clinical Focus M.S., Nursing Management and Quality Leadership M.S., and Family Nurse Practitioner M.S.
- Manage faculty workload, ensuring delivery of instruction across the programs of the School of Nursing.
- Provide program data, reports, and schedules in a timely manner to all parties.
- Engage in thorough and objective faculty evaluation of instructional effectiveness and make recommendations for promotion, tenure, and renewal.
- Assess clinical facility placement needs and evaluate the quality of clinical facilities in accordance with accreditation guidelines.
- Maintain program compliance with New York State Education Department (NYSED) rules and regulations.
- Assure compliance with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Essentials of Baccalaureate Education for Professional Nursing Practice and the accreditation standards of the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
- Submit annual reports to the Dean of Nursing regarding progress on achievements, program additions, and strategic goals and program effectiveness foci for the next year.
- Collaborate with the Dean, Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs, and Director for Simulation and Clinical Practice to plan for simulation experiences for the School of Nursing.
- Provide input to the Dean for budget requests annually, providing rationale, association with the D'Youville strategic plan, and expected outcomes to be attained with funds.
- Assist in the recruitment and selection of nursing faculty and staff.
- Actively participate in events of the School of Nursing and D'Youville, including commencement, white coat ceremonies, recruitment events, and special events.
Requirements:
- Earned doctoral degree in nursing or a related field from an institutionally accredited college or university.
- Master's degree in nursing from an institutionally accredited college or university.
- Unrestricted New York licensure to practice as a registered nurse.
- Three years of academic leadership experience in nursing in the higher education setting, including such experiences as department chair, program director, chair of major curricular committees, other academic leadership experiences, or any combination thereof.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Five years of academic leadership experience in nursing in the higher education setting, including such experiences as program director, chair of major curricular committees, other academic leadership experiences, or any combination thereof.
- Experience with advanced practice nursing education leading to a master's degree or a doctoral degree.
- Certified Nurse Educator through NLN.
