FEMA Construction Specialist Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled FEMA Construction Specialist to join our team at CDM Smith. As a key member of our Public Assistance Technical Assistance Contractors (PA TAC) team, you will play a critical role in supporting disaster recovery efforts in the West Zone.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and conduct site inspections with applicants to assess disaster-related damage.
  • Perform accurate quantification and detailed descriptions of damage, taking photographs and completing sketches as needed.
  • Engage technical specialists when appropriate throughout the process.
  • Obtain applicant representatives' agreement that all disaster-related damage was described and quantified correctly.
  • Provide completed site inspection information in a timely manner.
  • Develop scopes of work using code and standard requirements.
  • Work with applicants to prioritize projects and meet regularly on status.
  • Evaluate applicant-provided cost claims for reasonableness to report to FEMA regarding claim eligibility.
  • Participate in and assist with the development of final determinations while participating in regular FEMA meetings.

Requirements:

  • 5 years of in-field experience or 2 years of in-field experience with a bachelor's degree.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Domestic travel is required.
