Job Opportunity: Assistant Public Defender I, II, or III

The GeorgiaGov Public Defender's Office is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Public Defender I, II, or III to join our team. As a key member of our office, you will be responsible for providing exceptional representation and advocacy to indigent clients in all phases of criminal proceedings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in arraignment, pretrial hearings, trial preparation, plea negotiations, trial, and sentencing
  • Perform beginning to mid-level professional legal work, including assisting in cases of routine complexity
  • Provide competent and zealous representation and advocacy to indigent clients

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited college or university
  • License to practice law in the State of Georgia or eligibility to sit for the next Georgia Bar examination followed by Georgia Bar exam passage and licensure to practice law in the State of Georgia within one (1) year of hiring
  • Two years of relevant legal experience or two years of experience required at the lower-level Attorney 2
