Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Team Management
    • Lead the custodial team in providing excellent customer service to the Bethel community.
    • Hold team members accountable for delivering high-quality service and meeting customer expectations.
  • Custodial Operations
    • Supervise staff and student workers, as well as contract cleaners, in completing daily custodial tasks.
    • Prioritize and schedule tasks to ensure efficient use of staff time and resources.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Meet regularly with the manager and other custodial supervisors to discuss communication, planning, training, and workload management.
    • Assist in the hiring and training of staff custodians and resolve performance or behavioral concerns.
  • Custodial Services
    • Lead the custodial shift staff in cleaning and maintaining academic buildings to meet established standards.
    • Prioritize the cleaning of high-traffic and high-visibility spaces to ensure a positive guest and student experience.
  • Equipment and Resource Management
    • Ensure the efficient and effective use of staff time, equipment, and resources to meet established work schedules and deadlines.
    • Evaluate and recommend equipment, cleaning methods, and supplies to improve the custodial program.
  • Event Support
    • Coordinate with the manager and work proactively with custodial shift staff to set up furniture for events in and around the academic complex.
    • Utilize EMS software to meet event requirements and ensure excellent customer service.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years of custodial-related experience.
  • Working knowledge of swing machines, floor scrubbers, and vacuums.
  • Strong customer orientation and commitment to building a team that provides superior service to the Bethel community.
Additional Information
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Requires working in and around chemicals.
  • This position is considered essential personnel and must be available outside of normal working hours if needed to support contingency operations.
  • Must comply with environmental health and safety requirements and procedures as outlined in University and State policies and directives.
  • 40 hours per week, overtime as needed.
