Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our team at American Public Media Group. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance, repairs, and custodial work to ensure the smooth operation of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, lighting, and security
  • Assist with custodial work, including cleaning and disinfecting surfaces, emptying trash and recyclables, and restocking supplies
  • Respond to on-call emergencies and maintenance requests in a timely and efficient manner
  • Collaborate with the Facilities Manager to ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a safe and healthy work environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including moving and installing office furniture and equipment
Requirements
  • Technical school degree in a related field or equivalent experience in maintenance or a related field
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Knowledge of materials, tools, methods, and equipment used in building trades
  • Ability to learn new skills and tasks, and work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain facility systems, including plumbing, lighting, security, and HVAC equipment
  • Knowledge of industry-specific best practices and applications
Working Conditions

This is a dayshift, on-call position that requires the ability to work independently and respond to emergencies as needed. The physical demands of this position include lifting 50 pounds, climbing ladders and stairways, and working in a moderate to high noise level environment.
