About the Role

Sunnyside Care Center is seeking a skilled Cook to join our dietary team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality meals that support the health and well-being of our patients and residents.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare all food in sufficient quantities, according to written recipes, production sheets and menus
  • Handle food in accordance with sanitary standards
  • Sample food items for each meal and assure high-quality products
  • Prevent food waste
  • Help rotate and put away stock
  • Directly responsible for the care and cleanliness of equipment in cook's immediate area
  • Follow dietary policies with reference to washable apparel, hairnets, clean cut nails, etc...
  • Take daily food temperatures and complete mock trays when scheduled
  • Take temperatures of walk-in cooler, freezer and side-by-side refrigerator daily
  • Identify and date leftover food
  • Rotate and use leftovers skillfully
  • Prepare steam table and provides all items listed on the menu with proper serving utensils.
  • Participates in set up of special buffets, parties, etc...
  • Assist with development and implementation of departmental goals, policies, and procedures
  • Provide back-up coverage for the department head and the dietary staff as needed
  • Supervises all dietary aides
  • Follow sanitation and safety guidelines when storing stock
  • Follow all sanitation and safety policies and procedures
  • Performs any and all other duties as assigned by the Director of Food and Nutritional Services
Requirements
  • Ability to lift items weighing 10 or more pounds
  • Required to work weekends as scheduled
  • Job Types: Part-time
  • Pay: $17.75 per hour
