As an MRI Technologist at Kaiser Permanente's Capitol Hill Medical Center, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our imaging team. Under the supervision of the Radiology Supervisor, you will perform a variety of MRI procedures and departmental support functions, ensuring that patients receive accurate and timely diagnoses.
Key Responsibilities- Perform MRI examinations of the brain, body, spine, and extremities on patients of all ages, adjusting scanning parameters to accommodate different patient body habitus.
- Select and modify technical factors to enhance images, utilizing flare and SAT imaging techniques as needed.
- Determine appropriate equipment for scanning, including body coils, to ensure optimal image quality.
- Identify gross pathology in the human body and adjust T1 and T2 scanning parameters to provide pertinent information for interpretation.
- Adjust parameters of equipment to minimize risk factors to self and patient, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment.
- Effectively perform Diffusion studies, MR Angiograms, reformats, and MIP imaging, as well as specialized exams such as MRA runoffs and post arthrogram work-ups.
- Utilize magnetic resonance and adjust parameters to minimize exposure to patient and self, following established protocols and scanning techniques.
- Photograph, archive, and retrieve images, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
- Perform venipuncture and administer contrast studies as needed, adhering to established departmental policy and procedure.
- Identify and respond to IV contrast reactions, including calling emergency personnel as necessary.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams, ensuring clear and concise information exchange.
- Review each examination for technical accuracy, presenting completed examinations to radiologists and communicating pertinent data to relevant parties.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including MRI logs and requisition documentation.
- Minimum one (1) year experience as an MRI technologist or registry-eligible ARRT advanced certification in MRI, with certification obtained within 12 months of hire.
- Current in ARRT or ARMRIT CEU requirements, with venipuncture competency check-off completed within three (3) months of hire.
- Graduate of an accredited radiology technology program or MRI accredited certificate program, with high school diploma or General Education Development (GED) equivalent.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Magnetic Resonance Imaging within 12 months of hire, or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists Certificate.
- Radiologic Technologist Certification, Basic Life Support, and other relevant certifications as required.
This position requires the ability to stand, push, pull, and lift patients, as well as adjust to routine changes to accommodate patient or department needs. The successful candidate will be able to concentrate on fine detail with constant interruption and attend to tasks for 20 to 45 minutes at a time. Good oral and written communication skills are essential, as is proficiency in applicable computer software.
