Position Overview

LMI is in search of a Senior Scientist to provide support for our client in the Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (JPEO-CBRND).

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will act as the lead for experimentation on project teams, steering the planning and execution of exercises for the JPEO-HQ.

Essential Tasks Include:

  • Collaborating with technical leads across the JPEO to assess the maturity and relevance of candidate technologies.
  • Supporting risk management initiatives and providing guidance on implementing process enhancements for experimentation and subsequent advanced development efforts.
  • Engaging with exercise sponsors and participants throughout all stages of experimentation/exercise development, serving as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on planned activities.
  • Delivering updates and progress reports on experimentation/exercises to JPEO and sponsors.
  • Leading programmatic efforts on internal and external Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), and contributing to administrative tasks such as preparing agendas and documenting meeting minutes and action items.
  • Coordinating site visits and facilitating the planning, execution, and evaluation of exercises.
  • Representing the organization at conferences and stakeholder meetings.
  • Providing expert advice and technical oversight on concepts of operations (CONOPS) development and the transition of science and technology through advanced development, production, and deployment.
  • Offering technical insights to guide the experimentation/exercise team in formulating a robust strategy for both requirements and technology development.
  • Drafting written technical opinions to inform the decision-making processes of the IPT.
  • Collaborating with project teams to evaluate technical outcomes across various product areas, developing strategies to advance the program.
  • Recommending modifications to experimentation/exercise plans to yield effective, data-driven results while adhering to cost, schedule, and performance parameters.
  • Providing periodic updates to leadership.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of new technologies and CONOPS that may enhance the program.
  • Assisting Government personnel in leading requirements generation and CONOPS development efforts.
  • Supporting Government personnel in the creation of program planning budget documentation.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, and Certifications Required:

  • Standard Requirement: A Master's degree in Science or Engineering or a related field, along with ten (10) years of general experience and six (6) years of relevant experience.
  • Certification as a PMP or DAWIA Level III Program Manager is required.
  • Familiarity with the review cycles necessary for Joint Service requirements development and DoD acquisition program management is essential.
  • Desired: Proven experience in managing experimentation to showcase new technologies and operational concepts aimed at enhancing current Joint warfighter capabilities.
  • Desired: Familiarity with CBRN Defense, counter-proliferation, and non-proliferation policy, strategy, and readiness objectives.
  • Desired: Demonstrated experience in managing Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Operations, Weapons of Mass Destruction Elimination, Training, Safety, and Treaty Compliance programs.
  • Five (5) years of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Note: An active Secret clearance is preferred; only candidates eligible for a Secret level clearance will be considered (US Citizenship required).
