Critical Care Clinical Nurse Specialist Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team at Trinity Health Livonia Hospital. As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will play a critical role in promoting the continuous improvement of nursing care and patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:
  • Apply the nursing process at an expert level to assess, diagnose, and treat complex responses of individuals, families, or groups to actual or potential health problems.
  • Conduct comprehensive, holistic wellness and illness assessments using established or innovative evidence-based techniques, tools, and methods.
  • Identify and prioritize nursing care needs for a select population of patients/families.
  • Collaborate with the inter-professional team to integrate the nursing perspective into a comprehensive plan of care for the patient/family.
  • Provide advanced nursing care to selected patients, families, or groups across the healthcare continuum in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Initiate and plan care conferences or programs for individual patients or populations of patients.
  • Design and evaluate innovative educational tools or programs for patients, families, and groups.
  • Identify, collect, and analyze data that serve as a basis for program design and outcome management.
  • Establish methods to evaluate and document nursing interventions.
  • Evaluate the impact of nursing interventions on fiscal and human resources.
  • Serve as an expert resource for the latest evidence supporting cost-effective and safe nursing practices in a population of focus.
Requirements:
  • Graduate degree (master's or doctorate) in clinical nursing from a program that is accredited by a national nursing body and prepares graduates to practice as Clinical Nurse Specialists, i.e., trained in CNS core competencies in the three spheres of influence.
  • Three to five years of progressively more responsible related work experience.
  • Clinical knowledge in a specialty area. If hired in an area with a substantially different clinical knowledge set, the candidate will be expected to demonstrate progression of clinical expertise in the practice area within 6 months of hire.
  • Current and valid Registered Nurse license and Clinical Nurse Specialist license in the State of Michigan.
  • Certification as a CNS through an accredited nursing body, e.g., American Nurses Credentialing Center or American Association Critical Care Nurses.
