Job Title: Heavy Equipment Mechanic

About the Role

The Solid Waste & Recycling Division is responsible for the disposal of Municipal Solid Waste generated in the County. As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will perform mechanical repairs on various types of highway use vehicles and heavy equipment, adhering to proper repair and safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative maintenance, including oil changes and lubrication, to adhere to the Preventative Maintenance Program.
  • Order parts and supplies as needed.
  • Clean and maintain equipment repair shop, ensuring a clean, safe, and productive facility.
  • Perform any duty required to keep equipment running.
Requirements

Requires a high school diploma or a GED and at least two years of related equipment maintenance and repair experience. ASE Certification is preferred.

Working Conditions

Exposure to unfavorable health or safety conditions is constantly present. Daily involvement with work that involves a chance of major injury or loss of life and prolonged exposure to hazardous working conditions or severe weather conditions.
