Essential Job Responsibilities:

The graduate student will support the processing of intricate archival collections, specifically focusing on materials related to animal rights and welfare. This role involves organizing documents, images, video formats, and other archival items in either chronological or alphabetical order, as well as labeling folders and creating container lists and box labels. Additionally, the graduate student will contribute to the writing and updating of collection descriptions. The position may also encompass digitization tasks, including the scanning of primary source materials.

Reliability and punctuality are essential. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to handle delicate materials with care, follow detailed instructions, work independently, and maintain a keen attention to detail. This role requires working with materials that may contain dust or other allergens.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with archival collections; coursework or experience in archives, digital curation, or archival description is preferred. Experience with digitization methods and technologies is also beneficial. Enrollment in a graduate program in Library Science or Public History is highly desirable.
