Purchasing Manager Job Description

The Salem Group is a professional staffing firm with over 30 years of experience in connecting extraordinary people with extraordinary organizations. We are currently seeking a highly skilled Purchasing Manager to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and oversight for the planning, direction, control, and evaluation of all procurement activities.
• Responsible for continual development and maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local laws, and College Board Policy.
• Manage contract negotiations with vendors and service providers, including analyzing and maintaining monthly vendor spend reports.
• Ensure all goods, services, and equipment required by internal departments are obtained within budget and in a timely manner, while looking for cost-saving opportunities.
• Manage inventory of all departments.
• Recruit, hire, and train procurement staff based on department needs and identify gaps.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or related field with 5 years' experience within a public or higher education organization OR
• Associate's Degree with 7 years' experience within a public or higher education organization.
• Minimum of 3 years progressively responsible for the procurement of goods and services, including strategic sourcing contract and bid negotiation.
• Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience.
• Proficient knowledge and experience in Enterprise Resource Planning Systems (Workday & PeopleSoft preferred).

Working Hours:

Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm, 40 hours/week.

Compensation:

Starting pay is $48/hr, paid weekly, with direct deposit and pay card options available for all Salem employees.
