Job Description

We are seeking a skilled LPN to join our team at Trinity Health. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will play a vital role in delivering patient-centered care to our patients. Your responsibilities will include performing specific nursing interventions as delegated by the Registered Nurse, obtaining necessary clinical data from patients, and using an interdisciplinary plan of care as the framework for care rendered.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform specific nursing interventions as delegated by the Registered Nurse.
  • Obtain necessary clinical data from patients, family, or significant other.
  • Use an interdisciplinary plan of care as the framework for care rendered.
  • Administer medications to patients orally, rectally, intra-muscularly, or subcutaneously.
  • Monitor effects of medications; record medications given and patients' reactions.
  • Perform venipuncture, blood cultures, bleeding times.
  • Start, prime, disconnect IV lines and may regulate dripping.
  • Tracheal suctioning, NMTs, routine oxygen therapy, pulse oximetry.
  • Flush intermittent infusion devices (e.g. heplocks, saline locks) as a function of blood drawing.
  • Insertion and discontinuation of indwelling urinary catheterization and intermittent clean catheterization.
  • Neurovascular checks.
  • Neurologic checks.
  • Respond to patient requests in a timely fashion.
  • Introduce self and explain patient care role.
  • Maintain knowledge of policy and procedures.
  • Participate in unit activities to improve quality care.
  • Answer phones.
  • Maintain clean environment for patient visitors and fellow associates.
  • Seek ongoing learning experiences to keep current with practice and promote self-growth.
  • Clean and maintain equipment and supplies according to procedures.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain good rapport and cooperative relationships.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patients, physicians, colleagues, and visitors.
  • Behave in accordance with the Code of Conduct, Service Excellence Standards, and the Mission, Vision and Values of Trinity Health.
  • Assume responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner.
Requirements
  • Requires high school diploma or equivalent and one year of specialized nursing education.
  • Requires 12 – 18 months previous experience.
  • Requires active license to practice as LPN.
