Job Overview

BCForward is seeking a dedicated and proactive Forklift Operator to join our dynamic team.

Position Title: Forklift Operator/Warehouse Specialist
Location: Johnston, IA
Duration: 5+ months
Compensation: $21.50/hr on W2

Position Summary:

We are in search of a diligent and enthusiastic Forklift Operator to support our Controlled Environments Team. Our mission is to empower agricultural growth and contribute to global sustainability. Each team member plays a vital role in ensuring the efficiency of our research processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation using various tools, both manual and powered.
  • Operate ride-on sweepers, scrubbers, and other cleaning equipment.
  • Utilize hand tools such as brooms, dustpans, and screwdrivers.
  • Preferred experience in driving forklifts and trucks/trailers.
  • Assist in troubleshooting machinery with a basic understanding of their functions.
  • Perform routine sanitation tasks in greenhouse settings, including waste disposal and cleaning.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, including the use of PPE and Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, including wearing safety glasses and steel-toed shoes.

Qualifications:

  • Curiosity and willingness to ask questions to avoid errors.
  • Attention to detail is crucial for executing sanitation tasks accurately.
  • Strong work ethic to meet the demands of our research initiatives.
  • Effective communication skills to coordinate tasks within the team.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 30 lbs and endure long periods of standing.
  • Ability to work in a warm, humid environment with exposure to pollen.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
