Job Summary

Northwell Health is seeking a skilled Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist to join our team. As a CT Technologist, you will be responsible for operating CT and/or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) equipment, preparing patients for examination, and ensuring proper information has been obtained for the physician to make a diagnosis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate CT and/or MRI equipment to administer procedures, including abdominal, thoracic, neurological exams, and extremities.
  • Prepare patients for examination by placing them on the exam table, positioning them within the gantry, and ensuring consent forms are obtained.
  • Key in patient history data and other pertinent information obtained from a requisition completed by the Radiologist.
  • Calculate the number of scans to be obtained based on patient size and operate CT/MRI equipment to ensure required images are obtained as ordered by the Radiologist.
  • Locate Radiologists to review and ascertain whether additional scanning is required, and transmit cases to on-call Radiologists through the use of Tele-Radiology systems.
  • Administer intravenous (IV) and oral contrast agents as per Radiologist order, verifying there are no contraindications to administration.
  • Calculate contrast dose based on patient weight and perform venipuncture of the appropriate gauge necessary for examination.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
  • New York State Department of Health licensure as a Radiologic Technologist.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Registered Technologist (R.T.) required for positions filled after September 5, 2010.
  • ARRT registration in Computed Tomography (CT) or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) required within eighteen (18) months of entry date into positions filled after September 5, 2010.
  • Certification in IV Contrast Administration required within six (6) months of entry date into position.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification, required.
