About the Role

As an Anesthesia Recovery Nurse Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring seamless patient transitions between preoperative, intraoperative, and post-anesthesia care. Your expertise in managing patient recovery from various anesthesia techniques, including general, monitored, regional, and local anesthesia, will be invaluable in maintaining optimal patient outcomes.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized perianesthesia plans, prioritizing patient comfort, pain management, and overall well-being. Your responsibilities will include preparing for and managing patient recovery, protecting patients from injury, communicating current status, administering medications safely, and performing interventions to maintain tissue perfusion and genitourinary, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, endocrine, respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological systems at or above baseline levels.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare for and manage patient recovery from anesthesia - general
- Prepare for and manage patient recovery from anesthesia - monitored anesthesia care
- Prepare for and manage patient recovery from anesthesia - regional
- Prepare for and manage patient recovery from anesthesia - local
- Protect patient from injury caused by positioning, thermal sources, and extraneous objects
- Communicate the patient's current status throughout the perianesthesia continuum of care
- Provide acute pain and comfort management as needed
- Administer medications safely and correctly using the 8-rights of safe medication administration
- Perform interventions to maintain the integrity of the patient's wound and tissue perfusion at or above baseline levels

Requirements
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing
- One year of Pre Operative or PACU experience required
- Medical / surgical nursing experience
- Current state licensure to practice within good standings
- Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BLS/BCLS certification
- Successful completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current ACLS certification
- Successful completion of Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course is required when pediatric care is included in the facility scope services within 90 days of employment or documentation of current PALS certification
