PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
The primary responsibilities of this role include operating, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining all mechanical, instrumentation, control, and electrical high-voltage equipment necessary to support plant operations and optimize asset value.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Utilize a computerized maintenance management system to oversee and manage the work order system and spare parts inventory.
- Conduct maintenance and repair tasks on plant equipment, including pumps, gearboxes, fans, turbines, bearings, boilers, piping systems, valves, and limitorque operators (including disassembly, part repair or replacement, and reassembly).
- Operate, monitor, and maintain turbines, generators, pumps, scrubber plants, industrial wastewater treatment facilities, boilers, motors, combustion turbines, and associated auxiliary equipment.
- Mentor and train other employees in preventive maintenance and routine equipment servicing.
- Exhibit situational leadership and uphold environmental and safety standards.
- Lead the identification of equipment or system issues and propose effective solutions.
- Execute predictive and preventive maintenance tasks.
- Perform electrical maintenance on generators, transformers, and motor-operated valves.
- Troubleshoot plant equipment, including power and control circuits, heaters, motors, and transformers, using electrical testing instruments.
- Develop operating procedures for plant equipment to ensure consistent and safe operation.
All work must be performed during assigned shifts in a safe, continuous, and efficient manner while adhering to environmental and housekeeping standards in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Responsibilities also include:
- Following Work Management processes and ensuring safety through equipment tag-out procedures.
- Assisting in the requisition of parts and supplies.
- Performing any additional duties as assigned.
POSITION SCOPE
The individual in this role must effectively communicate across all organizational levels. A solid understanding of PLCs, Ovation, and GE Mark 6 Digital Control Systems is essential.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate's Degree in Power Plant Technology, Engineering Technology, or Electronics, or a High School Diploma with a minimum of 18 months of trade or technical training in Power Plant Technology.
- Successful completion of training requirements and time-in-job criteria for the position, including passing the EEI TECH test.
- Electrical background with availability for day shift work and overtime as needed.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Understanding of power plant schematics.
- Valid driver's license and access to an insured vehicle.
- Ability to work in a power plant environment, including climbing and walking long distances.
- Capability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
