Job Summary:

The Outpatient Dietitian plays a vital role in providing comprehensive nutrition counseling to patients and families, focusing on Medical Nutrition Therapy and Diabetes Self-Management Education. This position requires a thorough assessment of patients' nutrition status, incorporating anthropometrics, diet history, lab results, past medical history, and emotional/social factors. The successful candidate will develop and implement personalized nutrition plans, setting realistic and measurable goals to manage patients' nutrition and diabetes needs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting comprehensive assessments of patients' nutrition status
  • Developing and implementing individualized nutrition plans
  • Providing education and counseling to patients and families
  • Documenting interactions and patient education records
  • Participating in quality initiatives and staff meetings
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, candidates must possess:

  • Minimum of two years of experience in healthcare as a Registered Dietitian, preferably with counseling experience
  • Registered Dietitian certification with the Commission on Dietetic Registration
  • Certified Dietitian-Nutritionist licensure in New York State (or within six months of hire)
Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with the following qualifications are highly desirable:

  • Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES)
  • Masters Degree in Nutrition or a related field
  • Board Certification as a Nutrition Support Clinician or other certifications in Pediatrics or Adult Nutrition
Work Schedule:

This position requires a flexible schedule, with 2 days of 8 hours and 1 day of 4 hours between 8 am and 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
