As the largest of Duke Health's three hospitals, Duke University Hospital features 1048 patient beds, 65 operating rooms, and a wide array of diagnostic and therapeutic services, including a regional emergency/trauma center and an endo-surgery center.

This role comes with a $10,000 commitment bonus and $3,000 in relocation assistance.

Position Overview:
As a Radiologic Technologist, you will perform a variety of technical tasks related to operating radiographic equipment and producing radiographs of specific anatomical areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate x-ray equipment to create radiographs of designated anatomical regions.
  • Adjust equipment settings to ensure optimal radiographic exposure while adhering to radiation safety protocols.
  • Communicate x-ray procedures clearly to patients.
  • Position patients appropriately for each anatomical view, utilizing positioning aids and protective gear as needed.
  • Monitor additional equipment and assist physicians during fluoroscopic and specialized radiographic procedures.
  • Process images to achieve the highest quality and ensure they are matched with the correct documentation for interpretation.
  • Charge for radiographic procedures and modify orders according to established protocols.
  • Evaluate film quality by assessing positioning, technical factors, and collimation.
  • Utilize the Image Archival System effectively.
  • Provide education and training to affiliated radiology technology programs.
  • Orient new technologists to the department.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Completion of a program that meets eligibility requirements for registry/certification or currently holds the necessary registry or certification.

Experience: Level I must obtain certification within 18 months of employment. Level II requires a minimum of two years of experience as a diagnostic radiology technologist. Level III necessitates at least four years of experience in the specialty modality for promotion.

Certifications: ARRT certification in radiography, ARRT certification within 18 months of hire, and BLS certification.
