Position Overview
Insight Global is in search of a skilled Shipfitter to support one of our prominent shipbuilding partners.

This role entails utilizing ship fitting expertise for the maintenance and repair of naval and commercial vessels.

This position is strictly on-site work. Candidates must be capable of lifting weights up to 50 lbs and working at various heights, including confined spaces and challenging weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately measures and removes metal components, including steel and aluminum, and fabricates and reinstalls these components to meet welding specifications.
  • Performs tack welding of metal parts to ensure stability for welders.
  • Inspects work pieces for any defects and utilizes straightedges or templates to verify compliance with required specifications.
  • Dismantles metal assemblies or processes scrap metal using thermal cutting tools such as flame cutting torches or plasma arc equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred: Weld Certificates from a technical institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in welding.
  • Experience in structural repairs involving steel and aluminum.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to pass a MIL STD 248D certification test.
  • Familiarity with NAVSEA Standard Items and regulatory bodies such as the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and the United States Coast Guard (USCG).
