Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team at My Own Place, Inc. as a Nurse LPN. In this role, you will provide high-quality nursing care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, promoting their independence and well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to individuals, including first-aid treatment and medication administration.
  • Supervise and schedule medication nurses, ensuring timely and accurate medication administration.
  • Complete monthly nursing reviews and ensure medical appointments are made and followed up on as needed.
  • Develop and implement nursing care plans, working closely with the QIDP and Program Manager.
  • Conduct quarterly visits to residences to observe self-medication programs and document observations.
  • Serve as a medical resource for staff, providing guidance on issues related to individuals served.
  • Attend monthly psychotropic medication reviews and provide in-service training to new staff.
  • Perform other nursing duties as assigned, ensuring the highest level of care for individuals served.
Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program and maintain current Board of Nurses licensure in the District of Columbia.
  • Certified in CPR and have a general knowledge of specific needs of persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Familiar with Medicaid and District of Columbia regulations.
  • Ability to navigate steps and travel throughout the Washington Metropolitan Area.
  • Must be able to maintain current health certificate and be understood by people supported by the agency.
