Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct general cleaning duties including waste disposal, dusting, surface cleaning, glass polishing, and disinfecting.
  • Perform floor maintenance tasks such as mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, and carpet care.
  • Maintain restrooms by cleaning fixtures, replenishing supplies, and ensuring overall cleanliness.
  • Assist in moving furniture and reporting maintenance needs as required.
  • Identify and report hazardous conditions and necessary repairs.
  • Address concerns from students and other users in a professional and timely manner.
  • Engage in training for total quality management and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Stay informed about custodial practices, supplies, and equipment to implement cost-effective methods.
  • Foster positive working relationships with colleagues and the university community.
  • Adhere to university policies and procedures.
  • Complete special assignments as directed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Completion of 10th grade; GED is preferred.
  • Experience: One year of custodial experience is required.

Skills Required:

  • Ability to read and write at a tenth-grade level.
  • Capability to follow written and verbal instructions and perform custodial tasks independently.
  • Knowledge of safe handling of cleaning chemicals as per manufacturer guidelines.
  • Proficiency in operating various cleaning equipment.
  • Understanding of safety and custodial best practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to maintain effective relationships with staff and students.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience in a multi-building custodial setting or equivalent training.

Additional Requirements:

  • Completion of COVID-19 vaccination status is required.
