**Job Summary:**
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to join our team at GPAC. As a Medical Billing and Coding Specialist, you will be responsible for accurately preparing and submitting medical claims to insurance companies and ensuring timely reimbursement.
**Responsibilities:**
* Review patient information and medical records to accurately code diagnoses and procedures
* Prepare and submit medical claims to insurance companies
* Verify insurance eligibility and coverage for patients
* Follow up on unpaid claims and denials, and appeal when necessary
* Resolve billing discrepancies and answer patient inquiries regarding their bills
* Keep up-to-date with changes in medical billing codes and regulations
* Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines
**Requirements:**
* High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in healthcare administration or related field is a plus
* Proven experience as a Medical Billing and Coding Specialist or in a similar role
* In-depth knowledge of medical billing codes (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS) and insurance guidelines
* Familiarity with medical terminology and procedures
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Proficiency in using medical billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
* Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy laws
