Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and refine sand casting methodologies to comply with stringent aerospace industry quality and performance standards.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to design and fabricate casting molds, cores, and tooling that align with aerospace specifications.
- Implement robust quality assurance protocols to guarantee that the dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and mechanical properties of cast components meet or surpass aerospace benchmarks.
- Diagnose and rectify casting imperfections and challenges, such as porosity and shrinkage, utilizing advanced metallurgical assessments and process enhancement techniques.
- Lead continuous improvement projects aimed at boosting casting efficiency, minimizing waste, and shortening production lead times while upholding the highest quality standards.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of casting processes, materials, and quality control practices. Prepare technical reports for internal and customer evaluations.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to ensure the seamless integration of casting processes into overall product development and production workflows.
Required Qualifications:
- Expertise in sand casting techniques, including green sand casting and investment casting.
- Thorough understanding of aerospace materials, alloys, and specifications pertinent to casting processes.
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software for tooling design and development.
- Strong analytical skills to assess complex casting defects and propose effective solutions.
- Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational capabilities.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations governing aerospace manufacturing processes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in aerospace sand casting.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
- Must be capable of lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally.
