Position Summary: This is an experienced repair role within the truck and trailer maintenance sector for the petroleum industry, offering on-the-job training and a commitment to learning. Responsibilities include performing inspections, repairs, and installations on Refined Fuel and LP delivery trucks, trailers, and company-owned equipment.

Department: Truck Shop Service

Key Qualifications:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Experience with class 4-8 truck and trailer chassis repairs is advantageous
  • Familiarity with DOT inspections
  • Background in refined fuel or propane maintenance, including certifications
  • Experience with air equipment
  • Understanding of 12 Volt systems
  • Welding and metal fabrication skills
  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools
  • Experience in fleet or shop maintenance
  • Effective communication skills
  • Valid driver's license
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Willingness to assist in various tasks as needed
  • Integrity and respectfulness
  • Familiarity with Technology and Maintenance Council recommended practices

Tools Provided:

  • Basic hand tools such as sockets, ratchets, and wrenches for mechanical tasks
  • Specialized tools and larger equipment will be supplied

On-the-Job Training Includes:

  • Inspections for Refined Fuel and LP
  • Plumbing systems for refined fuels and LP gas
  • Basic air system controls
  • Manufacturer certifications
  • DOT inspection training
  • Meter calibration certification
  • Safety protocols in the workplace

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and install equipment on customer trucks and trailers
  • Assist in maintaining company-owned equipment and shop tools
  • Cut, thread, and fit pipes as necessary
  • Travel to customer sites may be required
  • Support outside oil equipment mechanics; occasional overnight travel may be necessary
  • Complete work orders with accurate descriptions of tasks performed and materials used
  • Operate material handling and company vehicles
  • Heavy lifting and bending are part of the role
  • Utilize safety equipment and maintain a safe working environment
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as they arise
  • Coordinate with the parts department to procure necessary components
  • Execute work as detailed in repair orders efficiently and accurately, adhering to dealership and factory standards
  • Communicate promptly with the Service Advisor regarding any additional work required or changes in repair timelines
  • Ensure cleanliness of customer trailers
  • Maintain a tidy shop environment
  • Adhere to the work schedule and demonstrate regular attendance
