Job Overview

We are a family-owned business seeking dedicated In-shop Technicians for our truck and trailer service department. This role involves comprehensive repair and routine maintenance of semi-trucks and trailers within the petroleum sector, as well as various other types and sizes of trailers. We value detail-oriented individuals with a strong mechanical aptitude and a solid work ethic.

Position Summary: This is an experienced repair role in the truck and trailer maintenance industry, specifically for the petroleum sector, offering on-the-job training and a commitment to learning. Responsibilities include conducting inspections, repairs, and installations on Refined Fuel and LP delivery trucks, trailers, and company-owned equipment.

Department: Truck Shop Service

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Experience with class 4-8 truck and trailer chassis repairs is advantageous
  • Familiarity with DOT inspections
  • Experience in refined fuel or propane maintenance, including certifications
  • Knowledge of air equipment
  • Understanding of 12 Volt systems
  • Welding and metal fabrication skills
  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools
  • Experience in fleet or shop maintenance
  • Effective communication skills
  • Valid driver's license
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Willingness to assist in various tasks as needed
  • Integrity and respectfulness
  • Familiarity with technology and recommended maintenance practices

Tools Provided:

  • Basic hand tools including sockets, ratchets, and wrenches
  • Specialized tools will be supplied as needed

On-the-Job Training Includes:

  • Inspections for Refined Fuel and LP
  • Plumbing for refined fuels and LP gas systems
  • Basic air system controls
  • Manufacturer certifications
  • DOT inspection training
  • Meter calibration certification
  • Safety protocols on the job

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and install equipment on customer trucks and trailers
  • Assist in maintaining company-owned equipment and shop tools
  • Cut, thread, and fit pipes as necessary
  • Occasional travel to customer locations may be required
  • Support outside oil equipment mechanics, including potential overnight stays
  • Complete work orders with accurate descriptions of tasks performed and materials used
  • Operate material handling and company vehicles
  • Perform heavy lifting and bending tasks
  • Wear safety equipment and maintain a safe working environment
  • Handle miscellaneous duties as they arise
  • Communicate with the parts department to procure necessary components
  • Execute work as outlined in repair orders efficiently and accurately, adhering to dealership and factory standards
  • Notify the Service Advisor of any additional work needed or if repairs cannot be completed on time
  • Inform the Service Advisor of any issues such as parts delays or sublet repair needs
  • Ensure customer trailers are kept clean
  • Maintain a tidy shop area
  • Adhere to work schedules and maintain regular attendance
